SOLD!!! - Today we are pleased to present a one-owner 1990 AC Cobra recreation, built using a KCC Cobra fibreglass body and fitted with Jaguar XJ6 front and rear suspension — a popular and well-regarded choice for these builds when set up correctly.
Cobra recreations can be challenging vehicles if not assembled and tuned properly. Poor suspension setup often results in issues such as unstable tracking, excessive bounce, and compromised braking performance. However, this particular vehicle presented none of these issues and provided a solid foundation for the work we intended to carry out. This particular example had remained largely untouched since its original build. Over time, it had developed tired tyres, blemished paintwork, and a number of mechanical concerns, including wiring faults.
Our approach was to undertake a sympathetic restoration, preserving the character of the car while addressing its shortcomings. The body was completely repainted, all mechanical components were thoroughly inspected and serviced, and a full fluid service was carried out. Worn components were replaced where necessary, electrical faults were rectified, and the vehicle was fitted with brand-new tyres. The wheels were also refurbished, significantly enhancing its overall presentation and roadworthiness.
The interior, while not flawless, presented well and retained its period charm. Rather than over-restore it, we opted for a comprehensive deep clean and careful detailing to maintain its authenticity while improving its appearance.
Powering the car is a 427 Chevrolet big block V8, delivering the unmistakable sound and presence one expects from a Cobra. It is paired with a Turbo 350 automatic gearbox fitted with a Hurst shifter, providing a strong and engaging driving experience.
The result is a striking Cobra recreation that has been thoughtfully refreshed and is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.
